The social influence of constant, invisible surveillance, which leads to self-regulation of behavior.
The collection uses the concept of Foucult’s Panopticon. To educate viewers on how societal power structures, like surveillance, create cultural and political discourses and demand personal change (conformity). Works that invoke Rousseau’s idea to question the nature and fairness of the current social contract regarding global movement and citizenship.
Inspired by the French philosopher Foucault, the strong social influence of the panopticon is discussed. A complex, sensitive subject that was completed by her graduation essay, ‘When Art Becomes Political, Can It Still Be Art?’.
‘How to become a terrorist, terrorism and martyrdom are, in essence, a political agenda. In which both parties are willing to declare death to separation of faith. We believe, we fight for freedom of speech. Yet we are terrified of the thoughts and actions of another.
This ispired the proposal for ‘Mass Migration’ based on Rousseau social contract. Learning to understand the sensitivity of the subject when we examine the ‘Request for Asylum’.
Illustrated in the photography series of ‘AirBnB castles’ builds this tension of location importance even more.
When terrorism came close to Wendy’s home, on ‘22’03’16’, She couldn’t ignore the destruction faith could bring. ‘This page is intentionally blank’, enhances tension and seduction.
She went to the European Union, expressing the whispers surrounding her. Not realizing that she became a terrorist by speaking up and allowing others to speak in my performance video ‘Nous Demandons’. Enforcing this game with ‘Walls of Revolution’.
