In December a lot of things, events, going out, travelling and then the normal Christmas obligations have been going on. It is funny to realise that even though our families and we are living relatively far apart, it always feels like they are next to us.
When my boyfriend came back from the USA, my dad organised a surprise with him to visit me. As you have probably seen on the news or social media, Paris has not been in its best shape since the strikes.
In reality, it means that there is only one train per hour if you might be lucky and or some hours a day. Even though when I support their cause, it isn’t straightforward to move in such a big city and especially when you are living in the banlieue like we are.
So we talked about it and decided to present Ile-de-France from a different perspective than the parts that we usually visit. My boyfriend and I had already been to Provins, and I had already the feeling that my dad would love it.
It is this super old city about one hour drive – train ride from Paris centre. It is super cute, beautiful, and you feel yourself close to nature. On top of it it is a real middle age city center.
But once a year, they organise the middle age market in the middle of December. In which the village is wholly themed, from clothing to workshops, dancing and music, candle lighting, everything you can imagine.
The people are friendly, the food is good and not expensive, and there is no transportation because everything is in walking distance. They have animations for kids and adults; it is just truly remarkable. You should go and visit Provins.
Thank you daddy for coming to see me, I love it when we can share our life with you <3
