FLEURS DE DÉCORATION – workshop means decoration flowers. It is a voluntary workshop that I organised in one of the community centres at Juvisy-sur-Orge. During this workshop, We made flowers from paper, plastic and scrapping paper.
During the workshop, you would learn how to use any material to create as decoration. In the aspect of recycling and recreating. My workshop was a great success. Adults and children were jumping in order to participate.
FLEURS DE DÉCORATION – Workshop was a great succes.
At a certain point my table was so full I didn’t manage to host more people.
During this workshop I encountered one problem, the scissors that the location provided didn’t cut at all. Which is one of the basic needs for creating the flowers. I brought some spare from my house, but this didn’t apply sufficiently to the need for the number of participants.
Another point that didn’t work that well was: that some children were so young. They really needed a parent with them. Sadly, the parents where no-where to be found. I didn’t consider this issue at all in my preparation and I felt a bit stupid to not have prepared this in advance.
So what did I have prepared for the workshop?
Workshop instruction guide:
- You need some scissors, (washi)-tape, (long) wooden sticks, elastics, thread.
- You can use the foulding technique, or put the stick and fold the material around it. Cutting it on the end of your stick.
- You can attach it by using the tape or elastics, in order to start modeling the material.
- You can eighter create a hanging or a standing flower.
For starters, we took a napkin to just learn fast and easily the technique. Then we would move on to a more beautiful material, to keep in mind the colors. Depending on your capacity, you can make more easy or complicated versions.
